About Matt Laminated Business Cards 400gsm
Product specifications sourced from our UK print partners.
- Supply a print-ready PDF in CMYK with all fonts outlined or embedded
- Build the file at the finished trim size with 3mm bleed on every edge
- Keep text, logos and borders at least 5mm inside the trim
- Supply all images at 300 DPI at final size — screen-resolution images (72 DPI) will print soft
- Single pages please, no crop marks or printer's marks inside the artwork area
- Use rich black (C40 M30 Y30 K100) for large solid black areas; 100% K alone looks grey
- RGB files are converted to CMYK for press, which can shift bright blues, greens and oranges
- Hairline rules should be at least 0.25pt so they hold on press
- 400gsm silk board with matt or soft-touch lamination
- Premium heavyweight feel
- Anti-fingerprint soft-touch option
- Standard UK size 85 × 55mm
Matt laminated 400gsm is the card most people mean when they say they want a 'proper' business card. The board is thick enough to stand up in a card holder without curling, and the matt film takes fingerprints far better than gloss while giving colours a deep, modern flatness.
Printed full colour on both sides as standard, so the reverse is free real estate — a QR code, an offer, a short service list or simply a clean logo panel.
If you hand cards out at events, this is the one to buy in bulk: the per-card price falls sharply above 500 and the finish still looks considered at any volume.
- Full colour both sides
- 350gsm minimum
- UK trade presses
Matt Laminated Business Cards 400gsm buying guide
Written by our studio team — what to choose, and what usually goes wrong.
Weight is measured in gsm (grams per square metre) and it is the single biggest factor in how a card feels.
- 350gsm — the practical minimum for a professional card. Sturdy, economical, ideal for high-volume handouts.
- 400gsm — noticeably more substantial. The usual choice when the card is doing premium work.
- 450gsm and above — specialist and folded cards, where rigidity matters.
