- Supply a print-ready PDF in CMYK with all fonts outlined or embedded
- Build the file at the finished trim size with 3mm bleed on every edge
- Keep text, logos and borders at least 5mm inside the trim
- Supply all images at 300 DPI at final size — screen-resolution images (72 DPI) will print soft
- Single pages please, no crop marks or printer's marks inside the artwork area
- Use rich black (C40 M30 Y30 K100) for large solid black areas; 100% K alone looks grey
- RGB files are converted to CMYK for press, which can shift bright blues, greens and oranges
- Hairline rules should be at least 0.25pt so they hold on press

Circular beer mats are printed on thick absorbent pulpboard — the traditional bar mat that soaks up condensation and gets read while people wait for a drink.
They are cheap enough to treat as disposable advertising and are still one of the most effective ways to promote an event or drinks offer inside a venue.
Because the board is absorbent, colours print slightly softer than on coated stock. Design with bold flat colour rather than subtle photography.

- 3mm bleed and 5mm safe margin — circular dies move slightly more than straight cuts.
- Expect ink to spread a little into the board; avoid text under 7pt and hairline rules.
- Use the reverse — a second side costs very little and doubles the message.
